↳About the work
The project has a total area of more than 800 Hectares of reclaimed land at Hidd in the Muharraq area of Bahrain. It encompasses a container terminal Port, a Free Trade Zone and a Local Industrial Area. Phase I of the project comprises the following main elements:
- Dredging and reclamation of 60 million cubic meters of fill material.
- 1,800 meters of quay wall with minimum 15 meters water depth designed for containers, general cargo, dry bulk and roll on-roll off (Ro-Ro) traffic.
- A container terminal including container freight station, aluminum packing shed, entrance gate complex, control tower and other buildings.
- Onshore general cargo area and a Ro-Ro park.
- Onshore container and general cargo handling equipment.
- An industrial area of 240 hectares
- Central facilities which include Business Centre, Administrative Offices, Medical Centre, Fire Station, Police Station and a Security Centre.
- All infrastructures of the above including roads and access roads, water distribution systems, irrigation networks, wastewater networks, sewage treatment plant, electrical, telephone and telecommunications networks and cabling.
